Editorial and event photography

These samples are from photo shoots assigned to me to accompany articles (I've handled stories as both the writer and the photographer and I've just as happily split the chores with others) as well as event coverage for businesses and non-profits.

Wassail with Stephen (Charleston Stage, December 2007)

Stephen Colbert, named 2007 Celebrity of the Year by the Associated Press, was the guest of honor at this fundraiser for Charleston Stage. The event, held at the historic Tristram Hyde house in Charleston, was a huge success. Mr. Colbert, best known for his roles on Comedy Central programs The Colbert Report and The Daily Show, was gracious, charming, and kind.

Hope Lodge Groundbreaking (American Cancer Society, July 2007)

Hope Lodge founder Margot Freudenberg celebrated her 100th birthday in 2007, making the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of the Calhoun Street Hope Lodge an extra special occasion. A Holocaust survivor with 67 (and counting) years of service to the American Cancer Society, Margot is one of the most inspiring individuals I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.

Precision Pool (Human Kinetics, 2008)

This series, for the interior of the second edition of Gerry Kanov and Shari Stauch's classic book on the sport of pocket billiards, features models Natalie Spencer, Jake Stauch, and Megan Stauch as well as actor Mitch Laurance and Ewa "Striking Viking" Laurance of the WPBA.

Governor's Cup of Surfing (Sandlapper, Summer 2007)

South Carolina is one of only two states (the other is California) with an officially endorsed Governor's Cup of Surfing. Chalk it up not only to having a governor who is an avid surfer himself but also to the dedication and positive attitude of the surf crowd at Folly Beach

Dining in Charleston (Spartanburg Magazine, Summer 2007)

The cuisine scene in Charleston, South Carolina has gone through a literal renaissance in the last few years. With an abundance of nationally-recognized chefs and an ever-increasing variety of dining choices, the Lowcountry is fast becoming a foodie Shangri-La.
